A Natural Body of Water

Little Spirit Lake spans 624 acres with 10 miles of shoreline. It is neighbored by Big Spirit Lake, which is 5,700 acres. Big Spirit Lake catches all of the boating traffic, leaving Little Spirit Lake to serenity.

The Dakota Native Americans believed the lake was guarded with spirits. It was originally called "Minnewaukon" and then the French named it "Lac D'esprit," both meaning "Lake of Spirits."

With an average depth of eight feet, Little Spirit Lake is perfect for kayaking, canoeing, paddleboarding, and fishing. It holds a variety of fish, including bass, trout, and bluegill.

Loons, cranes, pelicans, turtles, and geese are just part of the wildlife you will spot around the lake.

Big Spirit Lake is popular for boating, sailing, water skiing, jet skiing, and tubing. Either lake is a promising location for ice fishing.
