Location and Access

Wolf Lake is in the middle of the Indiana and Illinois state line and close to Lake Michigan. It is close in proximity to Chicago, Illinois.

This is a beautiful 800-acre lake that offers a variety of outdoor activities to visitors and residents of the lake. Multiple parks and attractions surround Wolf Lake making it a great place for the family to enjoy some fun.

Fishing Opportunities

The fishing opportunities are above average. There are over ten different species that are caught in Wolf Lake. The most popular species of fish found here are northern pike, walleye, lake whitefish, yellow perch, and white sucker.

Around Wood Lake

Located just a short distance is downtown Whiting, Whihala Beach, and the Pavilion at Wolf Lake Memorial Park. The park is home to many recreational activities you and your family can enjoy. There is the option of boating, kayaking, canoeing, fishing, and paddleboarding. On land, you can walk, run or bike around the lake area.

Hospital and Airport

Located nearby are three hospitals, the Advocate Trinity Hospital, St. Catherine Hospital, and the Franciscan Health Hammond Hospital.

Located about 40 minutes north is the Chicago Midway International Airport, and approximately 40 minutes south is the Griffith-Merrillville Airport.

Wolf Lake straddles the state line between Illinois and Indiana. Due to this landscape, two major cities are close enough for you and the family to visit.
